Sloane Stephens Bags Her First Grand Slam Title At U.S. Open Final After Ranking 957th Last Month


After she was ranked at 957th just last month in women’s tennis, Sloane Stephens is now jubilating and so are her fans as she bagged her first Grand Slam title after she defeated Madison Keys 6-3, 6-0 in the U.S. Open final.

Sloane Stephens had in July, undergone a foot surgery. Madison Keys was also said to have undergone two surgeries in the last ten months on her left wrist.

The two childhood friends who have played together on Fed Cup teams and Olympic teams during their junior days, had to sort it out in their first ever U.S. Open singles final and Sloane emerged the winner.

Having won the title, Sloane Stephens will now be ranked at World No. 17 in the span of 5 weeks!
